Helmut Wagner-Freynsheim

Helmut Wagner-Freynsheim (1889–1968) studied in Vienna at the Technische Hochschule under Carl König (1909–12) and at the Bauschule of Adolf Loos (1912–14). He then worked as an independent architect in Vienna (1921–30), before moving to Kitzbühel (in 1930) and later Vorarlberg (in 1949), where he worked until his death for the building society Wohnbauselbsthilfe, among other things. The underrated oeuvre of Wagner-Freynsheim includes numerous single-family homes, villas, and housing complexes; his interest in more general aspects of project planning often induced him to take on garden design as well.
