Otto Breuer

Otto Breuer (1897–1938) studied at the Technische Hochschule in Vienna under Karl Mayreder and Max von Ferstel. He attended the Bauschule of Adolf Loos, and was also a student at the Bauhaus school in Weimar in 1919–20. In collaboration with Albert Linschütz, he was responsible for the design of numerous interiors and furnishings in the 1920s. His houses at the Vienna Werkbund Estate (nos. 59–60) were among his first realised buildings. In 1938, his assets were confiscated by the National Socialists. After a suicide attempt, he was sent to Purkersdorf Sanatorium, where shortly afterwards he took his life.
