László Gábor

Having studied painting under Lovis Corinth at the Akademie der bildenden Künste in Berlin and following stays in France and Italy, László Gábor (1895–1944) settled in Vienna in 1924. He became acting secretary of the Austrian Werkbund in 1928, and then co-directed the Werkbund Exhibition together with Josef Frank and Hermann Neubacher. He was responsible for the colour scheme of the model estate, where an exhibition of his works was also to be seen. Gábor emigrated to the USA in 1935, teaching at Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh from 1936.
