Josef Ludwig Kalbac

Having trained as a craftsman, Josef Ludwig Kalbac (1902–1980) studied architecture under Oskar Strnad at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Vienna from 1928 to 1931. He worked occasionally for the atelier of Josef Hoffmann, with whom he also designed several housing complexes in the 1950s. At the Werkbund Estate, Kalbac was responsible for the interiors of houses no. 4 (Hugo Häring) and no. 33 (Julius Jirasek) – the latter in collaboration with Ada Gomperz.
