Ada (Adele) Gomperz
Ada Gomperz (1884–?) studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Vienna from 1928 to 1932 under Oskar Strnad, Carl Witzmann, and Oswald Haerdtl. From an early stage, she specialised in organisational aspects of architectural design, particularly with regard to the kitchen area. Together with Erich Boltenstern, for whom she worked, Gomperz was responsible for furnishing house no. 5 by Hugo Häring; she also planned the kitchen of house no. 33 by Julius Jirasek. In 1935, she emigrated to the USA with her husband, the philosopher Heinrich Gomperz. There she worked occasionally for the architect Liane Zimbler in the 1940s. Ada Gomperz designed above all interiors for hotels, old people’s homes, and restaurants.
